USBAC's AMERICAN DIASPORA INITIATIVE :

Dear members of the American Bangladeshi Diaspora:

U.S. Bangladesh Advisory Council is launching a Diaspora Initiative for young
professionals (ages 25--45) which includes two major events in Dhaka,
Bangladesh this January. Please let us know if you will be in Dhaka on Jan 4 & 5
and would be interested to participate, and please send us the information
requested below.

The goal of these events will be to introduce younger members of the Bangladeshi
Diaspora in the U.S. to leaders from Bangladeshi private sector, think tanks, NGOs,
academia and government to discuss potential areas of collaboration.

Event 1: A reception at the home of Daniel W. Mozena, the U.S. Ambassador to
Bangladesh on Friday, January 4, 5:30--7:30 PM with U.S. - based Bangladeshi
young professionals and students who are U.S. citizens or legal residents. This
event is part of the U.S. State Department's Global Diaspora Initiative.

Event 2: An event on the following day, Saturday January 5 from 9AM--12PM will be a
discussion and networking session where the American Bangladeshi diaspora will
meet their professional counterparts in Dhaka so they can develop mutually
beneficial working relationships and potentially collaborate on development
projects. There will be a morning session at the American Club in Gulshan followed
by an optional afternoon session at the newly built Edward M. Kennedy Center in
Dhaka. We also plan to make an afternoon trip to a private university to discuss the
curriculum for the global marketplace. Please let us know if you  plan to stay for the
afternoon sessions.

All diaspora participants at these events should be between the ages of 25--45 and
can be from the private sector, government, NGO and academia in their respective
countries.
