USBAC Hosts a Luncheon on Capitol Hill to Honor a Trade Delegation from Bangladesh

WASHINGTON, DC- November 10, 2005:  The US-Bangladesh Advisory Council hosted a luncheon in the Capitol for
Congressional leaders to meet the visiting Bangladesh Trade Delegation led by the Commerce Advisor to the Prime
Minister of Bangladesh,  and president and directors of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers’ Association (BGMEA).

Members of Congress assured the delegation of their consideration of trade benefits for Bangladesh and other Least
Developed Countries and advised it to enlist the support of addtional members of congress for passage of the TRADE
Act, a bill that has been introduced both in the Senate and the House. If passed, the legislation will provide duty free
access for Bangladeshi goods into the United States.

During their visit to Washington, DC, the Bangladesh trade delegation met with sponsors of the TRADE Act on Capitol
Hill, as well as with senior officials at USTR, the Department of State, the Cotton Council and American Apparel &
Footwear Association (AAFA).
